Through E7’s interchangeable card design, these once-iconic and now rare DACs are reborn, allowing a new generation of audiophiles to rediscover their distinct charm and nostalgic tonal beauty. 125dB → 123dB: “From Warm & Sweet to Sweeter Still”
As one of the performance kings among classic Delta-Sigma chips, the PCM1792A can achieve an extremely high dynamic range — but only in desktop DACs with ±15V power rails and 9Vrms output. Such voltage levels are impractical for portable devices: they consume excessive power, shorten battery life, and require heavy signal attenuation, which leads to detail loss.
After balancing power consumption and performance, the first prototype used ±5.8V power for the I/V stage, with 5.2Vrms output, achieving a 125dB dynamic range.
