Audio-Technica’s proprietary manufacturing methods were used to develop the ATH-WB LTD’s new 45 mm HD drivers, based on the drivers introduced in the ATH-WB2022 60th anniversary model but tuned specifically for analog connections. Designed and manufactured in-house, the diaphragm features a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating for improved reproducibility of high-frequency sounds without sacrificing lowfrequency resolution. Since first introducing wooden headphones in 1996 with the ATH-W10VTG, Audio-Technica has spent more than 25 years analyzing various types of wood for use in headphones. The wood chosen for these headphones offers a beautiful grain finish and superior acoustic characteristics for a clear sound field with rich, extended tones.

Each housing is carefully crafted with three layers of solid flame maple, walnut, and mahogany, woods used in rare, high-end stringed instruments. The different woods combine to provide superior acoustic and vibration-damping properties.

The natural grain of the wood used in these headphones makes each one truly unique. As the headphones age, so will the wood, making for a special item that can be carefully nurtured alongside the music you love. 

Hand-polished by skilled artisans

From machining to staining, each housing is carefully processed at Fujigen Inc., a leading Japanese manufacturer of guitars. Each pair of headphones is made with careful craftsmanship at every step—from the selection of wood to precise processing—and showcases the hand-polishing of skilled artisans, which brings out the unique layers of walnut and mahogany.

Specially designed aluminum frame with superior acoustic properties

The lightweight high-strength aluminum alloy frame reduces unwanted resonance for crisp, clear sound quality while also resisting corrosion.

Sheepskin earpads and headband

The earpads and headband are made of supple-yet-durable sheepskin for the ultimate in comfort. The three-dimensional sewing pattern of the earpads creates the perfect thickness for superior sound quality without compromising the seal, ensuring a relaxed listening experience.

Unique joint design for advanced comfort and style

In addition to a unique joint structure with optimal fulcrum positioning, the curvature, dimensions, and balance of the headband have been completely re-evaluated from the ground up for improved comfort. Moderate side pressure ensures a light, weightless fit and an appealing silhouette when worn.

A2DC detachable cable with star-quad stranded high-purity copper 6N-OFC + OFC structure

The headphone cable is made with star-quad stranded wires with separate grounds for the left and right channels to reduce crosstalk. The left and right inputs are terminated with Audio-Technica’s audio-centric A2DC* connectors.
